Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
